Growing Together in Faith — Aylesbury Parishes

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Matthew 19:14

First Holy Communion 2026–27

We are excited to welcome your child to this year’s First Holy Communion preparation programme! This is a sacred milestone in their faith life as they grow closer to Jesus, discover God’s deep love, and learn the beauty of the Eucharist.

Key Dates

  • Registration: open now until 7 September
  • First Parent Meeting: Saturday 26 September (time to be confirmed)
  • Lessons: Saturdays, 10:30am–12:00pm, from 10 October — roughly two weeks on, two weeks off during term time
  • First Holy Communion Masses: 22 May 2027 (times to be confirmed)
  • Corpus Christi procession: 30 May 2027

Please note: the dates above are our planned schedule. The final timetable — including lesson times, the number of groups, and which church each group meets at — will be confirmed after registration closes on 7 September, once we know how many children are taking part. We will email you the confirmed schedule, and you will always find it in the family portal.

Lesson dates are subject to change; additional parents’ meetings will be arranged as needed.

Programme Goals

  • Deepen your child’s personal relationship with Jesus through prayer
  • Experience God’s unconditional love and learn to live as His children
  • Fully understand the beauty of the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist
  • Prepare to receive Jesus in Holy Communion with reverence, confidence, and joy

What We Ask of Families

  1. Attendance: your child attends every Saturday lesson, and your family attends Sunday Mass each week. Missing 3 or more lessons means the preparation cannot be completed this year.
  2. Prayer at home: establish a routine of daily family prayer.
  3. Sacramental practice: help your child memorise the core prayers (Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, Act of Contrition) and complete all homework in the family portal.
  4. Parish life: encourage your child to take part in parish activities and community service.

Before You Register

  • Use only your child’s first name and surname — no middle names
  • Have a photo or scan of your child’s Baptism certificate ready to upload
  • Registration / donation: £30 per child, £25 for additional siblings — covers all course books and lesson materials. Payable at the first parent meeting, and no later than 17 October. No child is ever excluded for reasons of cost — please speak to us in confidence if the amount is difficult.

Questions? Email aylesbury.catholic@northamptondiocese.org or call the parish office on 01296 290545.

After you submit, a catechist will review your registration. Once we approve it, you will receive an email with access to your family portal account — that’s where you’ll find the lesson schedule, homework, and the parents’ question board. Submitting this form does not by itself confirm a place; we will always confirm by email.
